    How to Pick Masters Winners?

Betting on golf is very difficult, much like picking a needle in a haystack. There are hundreds of golfers per event, so putting money on just one is a huge risk in taking. Pool players have a better chance of winning, simply competing against a smaller group of friends rather than the entire golfing field.

Whether you’re picking within a pool or betting in the futures market, it’s important to note this is an annual event held in the same location each year. Therefore historic trends and stats can be used for picking Masters contenders. A great starting point are the odds, which are listed above.

The last five winners have had opening odds to win at +5000 or shorter, so long shots don’t typically do well in this event. Some favorites to consider include Dustin Johnson, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy.

Johnson won the event in 2020 while also finishing as a runner-up in 2019. Scheffler is the top golfer in the world and won in 2022, although a back-to-back winner hasn’t been accomplished since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002. McIlroy was a runner-up to Scheffler last year and is coming off one of his better seasons on the PGA Tour.

Why is Playing in Masters Pools Better Than Betting?

As mentioned above, your likelihood of winning increases when competing in a pool rather than betting with a sportsbook. There are also various types of pool games to participate in, giving you a more diverse gaming angle for the tournament rather than one specific betting market.

The chances of winning and playing in more games increase with playing pools instead of sportsbooks, along with saving much more money on losses and winning more on victories!

Most pools have a set cash prize that is much more valuable than betting odds that can actually hit as well. Pool players have a better chance of winning $1,000 in a pool-style game rather than a +1000 bet hitting.

How to Play in Masters Pools?

Playing in a Masters pool is simple with RYP. Our Masters pools come in two formats, tiered and salary cap.

For tiered pools, we divide the field into six tiers based on their World Golf Ranking. All you need to do is pick a golfer from each tier and watch the action. Each golfer will count towards your team’s final score, and the member of the team that has the fewest total strokes is the winner.

For salary cap pools, each golfer will have a salary assigned to them based on their World Golf Ranking. You’ll be given a fixed salary cap that you must stay under to form your 6-player roster.

Once your group is assembled, scoring works the same way as the tiered format; just sit back and follow your squad!
