2023 NFL Draft – Best of the Undrafted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The NFL Draft is complete, and now all that\u2019s left to do is comb through the entire board and find the missing names. For hundreds of athletes, their lifelong dreams were fulfilled as they heard their names called to the podium in Kansas City this past weekend. On the other side of the coin, there\u2019s a surprisingly impressive list of prospects who went completely undrafted and are wondering what their immediate future holds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, this could mean the end of the line for the thousands of draft hopefuls that did not see their name called all weekend. Or, is it the start of a Disney movie plot featuring the next great underdog in the game? Only time will tell, but it was certainly a shock to see the names that weren\u2019t even given a late-round opportunity. Let\u2019s get to the best of the UNDRAFTED from Kansas City and decipher what their path in football is from here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undrafted QBs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tommy DeVito – <\/strong>This kid did more for the University of Illinois program than any quarterback has in decades there. The Italian stallion of the Big Ten brought the Illini to relevancy in the last two seasons and a record-high ranking in the polls. I guess there\u2019s some good karma to his story in the end though, as his hometown New York Giants picked him up after the draft. The New Jersey-born DeVito that started his college career at Syracuse heads back to the east coast for his first NFL look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malik Cunningham – <\/strong>The former Louisville signal caller displayed all sorts of NFL-level skill and measurable, but couldn\u2019t quite put it all together at once in ACC play. He slipped to day three and was interestingly snagged by my Patriots, who surely have some sort of Julian Edelman\/Antwan Randle-El type of fantasy in mind for Cunnignham\u2019s career in Foxboro.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adrian Martinez – <\/strong>I guess draft scouts forgot that Kansas State actually WON that Big 12 title, cause it clearly had no bearing on the Wildcats QB\u2019s draft stock. Martinez never hit the draft board but with little time following, the Lions swooped him and are giving him a chance to prove himself. I\u2019m not sure if he has the goods to last, but with his wealth of football experience, he could enter the backup QB carousel we know and love in the NFL.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also of Note: Chase Brice, Tanner Morgan, Charlie Brewer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undrafted RBs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mohamed Ibrahim – <\/strong>What? The guy who has been a workhorse in the Minnesota backfield for what feels like a decade didn\u2019t get any draft pick moment? It must have been his age at 24, or his undersized 5 foot 8 frame. Regardless, once the draft ended the Lions quickly took note of his absence on the board. Detroit claimed him and even offered him a more generous than usual signing bonus. Let\u2019s see if he can make the impact in training camp that he did in Minnesota.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xazavian Valladay – <\/strong>Don\u2019t ask me to say his name, but the Arizona State back broke a touchdown record in the PAC 12 last year and it got him nowhere on the draft board. Kind of surprising as he possesses the multi-position tools to be more than just a runner. The Texans wasted no time signing him after they noticed he wasn\u2019t picked, so H-Town it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undrafted WRs

Rakim Jarrett – <\/strong>A five-star recruit that excelled at Maryland, it was interesting to see no draft weekend action for the Terps\u2019 burner. Looking back, he probably regrets sitting out his team\u2019s 2022 bowl game, proving that every look in college really does matter more than you think at the moment. Jarrett was eventually signed after the draft to the Ravens to catch passes from a paid Lamar Jackson.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jalen Moreno-Cropper – <\/strong>I mainly remember this kid from hauling in TDs from Jaka Haener at Fresno State, who was rightfully drafted himself to the Saints. Moreno-Cropper didn\u2019t get picked at all but the Cowboys signed him after the fact, so he\u2019ll get a chance to wow in the SoCal during training camp with Dak Prescott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also of Note: Matt Landers, Jaray Jenkins, Chase Cota<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undrafted: Defensive Studs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mohamoud Diabate – <\/strong>Diabate was a critical piece of Utah\u2019s PAC 12 success in recent years, but his big plays on the QB weren\u2019t enough for NFL scouts to select him. Fortunately, Diabate\u2019s story ends well as the Browns have signed him with a signing bonus of $250k that gets his pro football career off on a good foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eli Ricks<\/strong> – It always surprises me to see a name (any name) from Alabama\u2019s defense not get drafted, even off of what\u2019s considered a \u201cdown year\u201d in Tuscaloosa. Have no fear – the Eagles swooped in and will give him a look so now he gets to practice with former rivals from UGA in the pro game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
