The march to the Super Bowl has begun. (Unless you\u2019re Aaron Rodgers, who\u2019s not doing any marching any time soon.)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aside from all the new expletives we heard at halftime from everyone who picked Washington in their survivor pools, what did we learn from Week 1 in the NFL?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first lesson is that the popular picks were steady, going 3-2 for players this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top five teams taken across all RunYourPool pick\u2019em contests were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jaguars -4.5 (Taken by 78.7% of players). Covered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commanders -6.5 (78.2%). Won, but didn\u2019t cover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eagles -3.5 (76.7%). Covered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ravens -9.5 (72.7%). Covered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vikings -6.5 (69.1%). Lost outright.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/qSc3d2SgoCPBx2bbmITo6ElZuLKiGEzT5WmehTLQdoBZSqAig3a1nGtnU4ND7bU8rZrR_z7OhTNnuDX7LnaFGKcMUggepySWdOVckCzPMkdmY1iwASnJZcuEjvskrxSy0CaCYB1bFLM5cKQM2vTTxtU\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But by comparison, the teams manifesting the biggest edge using Unabated\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/unabated.com\/nfl\/pick-em?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=RYP\">NFL Pick\u2019em Edge Tool<\/a> could have netted you an extra win among the top 5:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Buccaneers +6.5 (30.8%). Won outright.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lions +6.5 (48.2%). Won outright.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Titans +3.5 (52.4%). Lost, but covered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chargers -2.5 (52.3%). Lost outright.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Browns +2.5 (36.5%). Won outright.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where Unabated shows an edge it means that the lines in your pick\u2019em contest have moved relative to the Unabated Line \u2013 a vig-free consensus line made up of some of the sharpest NFL sportsbooks in the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, when the Bucs are +6.5 in the contest but only +3.5 on the Unabated Line, you can infer betting markets have had sharp action coming in on Tampa Bay.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/pjUh-oqwKPb5VGKvfK0yNSmDGHs0qiHrGZajO_UD1wxLK3ENwEurjKJt--s4zu5o-jgUNpXcjIw4VUFj25yNPphlIOFanzJ66E03S7EmepfnXZ8V7f9I5co-1NlLhOf7XO1E1vEyI7tzVv6r11ofDZY\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minnesota was on the wrong side of the line movement against Tampa and showed the biggest negative edge. The Chiefs are another great example. Sharp bettors pushed the line on Chiefs from -6.5 to -4 after the Travis Kelce injury, giving you a clue as to where your attention should have been in that game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How about survivor pools? Most owners got to breathe a sigh of relief with the Commanders and Ravens both taking care of business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(The Broncos should be a popular choice this week with survivor players lining up to fade the Texans week after week. We\u2019d say add the Cardinals onto that fade train but they draw the Giants this week, whose performance against the Cowboys \u2026 left a little to be desired. New York is the bagel capital of the country but we didn\u2019t think it meant their football teams had to take one too.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use Unabated\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/unabated.com\/nfl\/survivor\/run-your-pool?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=RYP\">Survivor Pool Optimizer<\/a> to chart your course every week. It lets you select which projection sets will inform your plays, as well as allowing you to select how contrarian you want to be relative to your pool, and how much stock you want to put in a team\u2019s future value vs. win-now potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-8OBJ8lPF-8WgsaX00nLkDMNX6VzqNOTpV_wDsoPYxYVLgN6ZXVr1O3vEVxguA6FFIm0UwevuZLdGOFwAP-D-ndI8l8RuGFWFTfa9MhY6MifD4QCaWGDScgKwCgsL7AI2EgTqcDC-TNrrpbecLq_tBo\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We used the Ravens in our Week 1 pool and right out of the gate the tool wants to use the Bills at home against the Raiders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But say we weren\u2019t blown away by Buffalo\u2019s performance against the Rodgers-less Jets. Open up the options and slot in another team. By taking Denver next week against the Commanders the tool automatically reroutes the rest of the picks, in this case using Buffalo in Week 8 against Tampa Bay.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And by then, maybe Baker Mayfield will look revitalized in Florida. Maybe Josh Allen will join Rodgers on the IR. Maybe the Jets will have tapped Joe Namath back in.
