Our First-Ever Caption Contest!

As fate would have it, I happen to know somebody who knows the legendary Bob Eckstein a New York Times bestseller, New Yorker cartoonist, and award-winning writer and illustrator. (His new book is The Elements of Stress and can be followed @bobeckstein.)

As a longtime fan of the New Yorker Caption Contest and Bob's work generally (he's objectively hilarious), I asked him (very nicely) if he'd ever be for drawing us our very own cartoon — and what-do-ya-know, he obliged!

And fast!

So here's how it works:

You'll submit your caption to the cartoon below: a football ref holding a basketball in his right hand and a bowling pin in his right. You're going to tell us what the ref is saying. Example: "I have no idea what I'm doing."

Now. We'll pick the top 3 captions that we like.

In a week or so, we'll hold voting.

The winner will get something cool we haven't decided yet. Probably a RunYourPool Yeti or hat or a signed copy of Bob's work. :)

Good luck to all!
