Up-and-down seasons for both football teams equals a crapshoot of a Pinstripe Bowl this year.
The Terps started out uncharacteristically fast (both because Maryland isn't a perennial powerhouse, and because they're turtles, you see). However, they completely withdrew into their shell to end the season, losing six of their last eight.
A four-hour car-ride away, Virginia Tech had a similarly turbulent 2021. Wins early, but then a November that saw them lose to Boston College and Miami FL.
Honestly, it's tough to tell here who the better team is.
A much stronger conference, the B1G didn't make it easy on these Marylanders. And this might end up being the difference for this bowl game.
Tech should be able to lean on the run and get some stops on defense, but in the end... we saw both of these teams play a middling West Virginia team and Maryland won.
We like the transitive law of mathematics here... (NERD!).
The Score: Maryland wins, 21-17
