How to Pick U.S. Open Winners?
It’s no lie that Brooks Koepka might be the strongest U.S. Open player in recent history, winning twice over the last six years while also finishing as a runner-up the following year. Americans typically do well in this event, but a European golfer has won the last two seasons.
With that said, a non-American golfer hasn’t won the U.S. Open in three straight years since 2004-2006. For the 2023 U.S. Open, it might be wise to lean toward an American golfer if that trend continues.
The one common denominator among U.S. Open is that the events are typically close. The last two events have been won by exactly one stroke, along with four of the last eight tournaments.

How to Play in U.S. Open Pools?
Playing in a U.S. Open pool is easy with RYP. Our U.S. Open pools come in both tiered and salary cap formats.
In tiered pools, fields are divided into six tiers based on the current World Golf Ranking. Members select one golfer from each tier of the six tiers and then simply follow the action. Each golfer will count towards your team’s final score, and the member with the fewest total strokes is the winner.
In salary cap pools, golfers will have a salary assigned to them based on their World Golf Ranking. You will also be assigned a fixed salary cap that you must stay under to form your 6-player roster.

U.S. Open Past Winners
Matthew Fitzpatrick won last year’s U.S. Open event, the first English player to win the tournament since Justin Rose in 2013. Brooks Koepka is a back-to-back major winner here, as well as the PGA Championship, winning the U.S. Open in 2017 and 2018.
Besides Koepka, Tiger Woods is the most recent multi-time U.S. Open winner. Woods has won the event three total times, his last coming in 2008. The last two champions have ironically been non-American golfers, but a U.S. golfer has won the event in six of the last eight years.
