Super Bowl Squares pool

Super Bowl Squares Pools

Super Bowl Sunday is an undeclared national holiday in the United States. By far, the most popular "game within The Game" is the now famous Super Bowl Squares pool (also known as Grid pools, Box pools, and Block pools). We simplify the process of running your pool and allow members in remote locations to participate even if they can't attend your Super Bowl party.

How Do Super Bowl Squares Work?
The name of this type of pool comes from the 100 squares that comprise the pool's board. The board is a 10x10 grid of boxes where each row and column are assigned a number from 0 to 9 (View sample board). In offline Super Bowl Squares, each square of the grid can be purchased by a pool member by writing his or her name in the square and paying the appropriate per square cost. At the end of each quarter of the Super Bowl, the last digit of both NFL teams' score is compared to the grid to determine a winner.
Here is an example from Super Bowl XL between Seattle and Pittsburgh. The following is each teams score after each quarter:
 1st2nd3rd4th
SEA331010
PIT071421
In a Super Bowl pool that only has one winner (for the final score of the game), the winner would be the member in the square where Seattle column with the #0 (the last digit in 10) intersects the Pittburgh row with the #1 (the last digit in 21).
Note: The Pool Administrator determines whether payouts are made for each quarter, just the end of the game, or some other format.
Picking Squares
Super Bowl Squares pools are very simple and don't require any football knowledge to participate. However, that doesn't mean that a member should just put his picks in any box. There is some strategy (albeit limited) to where you put your name on the grid, so pay attention!
RunYourPool.com makes the process of picking squares simple. Members simply login to the website and click the square(s) they want. You'll have no more issues with squares containing illegible names and members will be unable to pick more squares then your pool allows.
The grid below is an example of RunYourPool.com's Super Bowl Squares. The grid shown represents a pool where a Pool Administrator has chosen to create random row and column numbers. Obviously, the grid shown is prior to the Administrator's generation of those numbers and represents what pool members would see during the picking process.
Please notice that three squares are highlighted. Squares are highlighted for a member when he or she logs in so it is easier to find their picks.

Viewing Your Pool's Squares
Pool members see the squares grid and all other pool members picks online, in real-time. The completed squares grid can also be printed out and distributed so members don't need to be near a computer to see who has won.
RunYourPool.com gives Pool Administrators the option to show the number 0 to 9 sequentially on the sheet as members pick squares or to randomly assign numbers once all square selections are made. Random assignment is the more common practice and one we recommend, but we like to give you the option.
After each quarter, we will update the site, highlighting the winning squares.
Brand your Pool
Add your company or organization logo to customize the look of your pool. For more information, see our Brand Your Pool page.
Private Message Boards
Every Super Bowl Squares pool hosted at RunYourPool.com includes a free, private message board. Your pool's message board, accessible only to your pool members, is a great way to communicate with members who aren't lucky enough to join you for the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl Pool Pricing
The total cost to run a Squares pool for up to 100 members is $9.95.
Included in the cost is the added benefit that we retain your pool information and members from year-to-year. Simply reset your pool next year and have your members log back in to pick again.
