The 2022 NFL season is just around the corner, and fans are already eager to see which players will make a splash. D’Andre Swift, a running back for the Detroit Lions, is generating a lot of excitement as fans watch NFL training camps begin this year. He has great speed and vision and is an excellent receiver. With Swift in the lineup, the Lions’ offense should be one of the most dynamic and exciting units.

D’Andre Swift was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1999. He attended Saint Joseph’s Preparatory High School, played football as a senior in high school, and rushed for 1,564 yards on 149 carries with 25 touchdowns.

    University of Georgia

The University of Georgia football team is one of the most successful programs in college football history. The team has won five national championships and produced numerous All-Americans. One of the most recent stars to come out of UGA is running back D’Andre Swift. Swift was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school, and he more than lived up to the hype during his time in Athens.

He rushed for 2,885 yards during his three years with the Bulldogs, helping lead the team to two SEC championships. He decided to forgo his senior year and declare for the NFL Draft, where he is expected to be a high first-round pick. Undoubtedly, D’Andre Swift is one of the most talented players to come out of the University of Georgia in recent years.

    The NFL Draft

Welcome to the Motor City, D’Andre Swift! The Detroit Lions selected the former Georgia Bulldog with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Football Draft. On July 13, 2020, the Lions signed Swift to a four-year contract worth $8.5 million. Swift joins a long line of running backs drafted in the second round by the Lions. He is a talented young player who has the potential to be a vital piece of the Lions’ offense for years to come (and a solid addition to your fantasy football draft picks).

    D’Andre Swift’s First NFL Season

In his rookie season, Swift shared the backfield with Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson.  In Swift’s professional debut on September 13, 2020, he recorded his first career rushing touchdown. Still, he later dropped what would have been a game-winning touchdown pass in the final seconds against the Chicago Bears. Despite that early mistake, Swift has shown promise as a versatile weapon in the Lions’ offense. He is a capable runner between the tackles and has the speed to turn the corner on outside runs. Swift also has good hands and is a threat as a receiver out of the backfield.

    D’Andre Swifts 2021 NFL Season

In 2021 Swift was joined by Jamaal Williams in the Detroit Lions’ backfield. Over the season’s first eight games, Swift totaled over 100 yards from scrimmage in four of them. In Weeks 10 and 11, Swift recorded 136 against the Cleveland Browns and 130 rushing yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With his strong play down the stretch, Swift proved that he is one of the best young running backs in the NFL.

It was a rough ending to the 2021 season for Swift after he aggravated a sprained right shoulder in the second quarter of the Lion’s loss to the Chicago Bears. Swift had initially suffered the injury early in the season but was able to play through it until the final weeks of the year. However, after aggravating the injury against the Bears, he was not cleared to return to play. This left him sidelined by coach Dan Campbell for the final two matchups of the season, including the Lion’s playoff game. While it is always disappointing to see a player get hurt, Swift can take solace in knowing that he gave it his all last year and will be back stronger than ever in the 2022 NFL Season (and hopefully help the Lions reach the Super Bowl this year).

Looking at the 2022 Season and Your Fantasy Picks

The 2022 NFL season is quickly approaching, and there is already a lot of hype surrounding some of the league’s most promising young players. One player sure to generate much buzz is Detroit Lions running back D’Andre Swift. Swift was drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and immediately made an impact. With two years of experience under his belt, Swift is poised for a breakout season in 2022. Swift is a versatile and explosive player who is sure to be a focal point of the Lions’ offense in 2022. He has the ability to break big plays on the ground or through the air, making him a dangerous weapon in any fantasy football lineup.
