Location: Independence Stadium (Shreveport, La.)
Time: Dec. 18, 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC
Teams: UAB (8–4) versus No. 13 BYU (10–2)
Line: BYU -6.5
UAB won their season finale against UTEP after narrowly falling to UTSA the game before. They only played a singular P5 team this season and got smashed 56-7. Of course, that team was the Georgia Bulldogs, so it might not be a fair barometer of their talent. In the Bill Clark era, UAB is a meh 1-2 in bowls.
As for BYU, they're 3-2 in bowl games since 2015, most recently losing to Hawaii in the Hawaii bowl (which doesn't seem fair, TBH) but then turning around to beat up on UCF last year.
Seems like BYU has a case of the Dangerfields, in that they don't get no respect.
The Cougars went 6-1 against P5 opponents and defeated 2 conference champions (and only lost by 2 touchdowns on the Big 12 champion’s home field). I don't think you'll see a team come out more fired up than the Cougars. They're going to wear the unranked Blazers like some sort of coat that's made for sporting.
The Score: BYU wins, covers, and welcomes their Big 12 bid with open arms: 38-24
The Actual Score: UAB 31, BYU 28
